Scheduled items and forecast
Schedule future expenses and income, see your projected balance day by day up to 90 days out, and confirm each scheduled item when it actually happens.
- 1
Choose between forecast and simulation
The page has two tabs. Forecast is where you create scheduled items and see your projected balance. Simulation answers a different question: how much you need to earn each month to have a given amount left over after paying your debt minimums.
TipThe upcoming scheduled items list shows in both tabs, with the five nearest ones.
- 2
Schedule an expense or income
If you have no scheduled items yet, the list shows a New scheduled item button to get you started. Once you have at least one, use the New button in the side menu from any page. Pick expense or income and fill in the amount, category, and description. You can also attach a merchant and the account the money leaves from or lands in.
TipThe start date does not accept past dates — a scheduled item is by definition something that has not happened yet.
- 3
Set the frequency
Each scheduled item can repeat in one of four ways:
- Once — a single entry on the date you pick.
- Weekly — repeats every week, between 2 and 24 installments.
- Monthly — repeats every month, between 2 and 24 installments.
- Custom — weekly, monthly, yearly, or every N days, up to 60 repeats.
TipOn custom frequency, iowii shows you the generated dates before you save. Check them — it is the fastest way to catch a wrong interval.
- 4
Read the projected balance
Pick a 30, 60, or 90 day window and the top of the page sums it up in four numbers: current balance, expected income, expected expenses, and the projected balance at the end of the window. The Balance Trend chart shows the same thing day by day, marking days with inflows and outflows. If you have active debts with a payment day set in the Debt Planner, their minimum payment is also included in this forecast, on the right day — you do not need to schedule it separately.
TipThe account filter in the app's header applies to this forecast too — the period doesn't, the forecast always looks at your full history. Leave the account on "All accounts" to see your total liquidity.
- 5
Include your budget in the forecast
By default the forecast counts only the expenses you have already scheduled. In Preferences you can switch expense projection to greater value, which compares your scheduled items against the flexible budget you have left to spend and uses whichever is larger.
TipWith greater value, the difference enters the chart as a budget reserve — it is not a scheduled item of yours, it is the headroom iowii assumes you will still spend.
- 6
Confirm it when it happens
The date arriving does not turn a scheduled item into a real transaction — that confirmation is always yours. Press Realize and the item becomes a transaction dated today. If you get it wrong, Undo puts it back to unconfirmed.
TipA scheduled item whose date has passed without confirmation is flagged Overdue and stays in Pending, so it never quietly disappears.
- 7
Find and manage the list
The Scheduled list filters by status — Pending, Realized, or All — and also has text search, a category filter, and a button to group by merchant. Each row can be edited in place or deleted.
TipEditing a row changes only that scheduled item, never the rest of the series. The delete-all button, however, removes every pending scheduled item, including ones the filters are hiding.
- 8
Use scheduled items on mobile
On mobile, the page has its own layout: the projected balance sits in the coloured header, with the 30, 60, or 90-day window right below it. Then come the window's Incoming and Outgoing totals, the upcoming items, the form, and the list.
- New scheduled item — opens the form; close it with the X when you are done.
- Frequency — once, weekly, or monthly, with the number of installments.
- List — filter by Pending, Realized, or All, with text search.
- Each row — realize, edit in place, or delete, with confirmation.
TipCustom periods — your own intervals, anchor dates, and the generated-date preview — are available on desktop.
- 9
Create a reminder
In the upcoming list, the bell icon creates a reminder for that payment. As the date approaches you get the alert, even if you never open this page.
TipIn Preferences you can hide scheduled items by default across the app, and choose whether you get a toast when a scheduled item is no longer future-dated.
- 10
Simulate the income you need
In the Simulation tab, enter how much you want left over each month. iowii adds up the minimum payments on all your active debts and shows the monthly income you need to cover both.
TipThe simulation needs debts recorded in the Debt Planner. Without them it has no minimums to add up.
